Engine derails, traffic on Kottayam-Ernakulam section hit

Kottayam, July 17 (UNI) Rail traffic on the Kottayam-Ernakulam section was disrupted as the Engine of the superfast Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai derailed due to landslide following heavy rains at Kuruppanthara, near here last night.

Locomotive driver and two passengers sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Train services were diverted via Alappuzha following the derailment.

Work on clearing the track was in progress. Traffic would be restored by this evening, railway sources said.
