Elephant cub dies in Asom

Guwahati, July 17 (UNI) The body of an elephant cub was found at Deeporbeel in the outskirts of Guwahati this morning.

DFO Surajit Dutta said the three-month old cub was drowned in the 4 to 5 feet deep ditch accidently.

The tusk of the cub was ripped off. This, the DFO said, might have been due to pull of the seniors of herd.

The DFO said around 18 elephants were spotted in the area since the last couple of days.

The dead cub is one of them.
