BJP leader killed by naxals

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, July 17 (UNI) A BJP leader was today shot dead by five naxals at Chhindgarh block in Dantewara district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

Former BJP block president Nandkumar Singh was standing at Chhindgarh bus station when he was attacked by the ultras. He died on the spot.

Farmers Hemla Lachchu, Hemla Somu and Hemla Elmu, who were lodged in a relief camp at Gangalur in Bijapur district, were caught by naxals while they were working at a farm.

The ultras took them near the bank of Gunapara river and stabbed them to death.

In a separate incident, naxals killed farmer Sukhdas when he returning from Murji village to the relief camp yesterday.

Special Police Officer Santosh Telam, posted at Bijapur relief camp, had gone along with his wife to forest yesterday from where he was reported missing.
