Bihar Assembly adjourned following uproar
Patna, July 17 (UNI) The Bihar Assembly was adjourned till lunch today following uproar created by the opposition members in protest against the rejection of the adjournment motion by the Speaker.
Soon after question hour, Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry said the adjournment motion notice of RJD member Shyam Rajak, LJP member Maheshwar Hajari and others was against the rules and hence it was turned down.
Mr Rajak trooped to the well, asking the Chair to explain the reason for rejecting the adjournment motion notice. Supporting Mr Rajak, the entire Opposition also trooped to the well, shouting anti-government slogans.
Suspending the businesses enlisted for the pre-lunch session, Mr Choudhry adjourned the Assembly as all his efforts to restore order in the House went in vain.
Later, accompanied by the Opposition members Rabri Devi told reporters that the adjournment motion notice was given against the ''unlawfull'' act of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who allegedly flouted the laid rules for reservations and promoted an official, who was not a bonafide resident of Bihar.
Ms Devi also alleged that neither the Speaker nor the government was ready to listen to their voice inside the House. The Opposition members had lost confidence in both the Speaker and the government.
She said only bonafide residents of Bihar were entitled to enjoy the reservation benefits.
