''Anayootu'' held with religious ferver

Thrissur, July 17 (UNI) ''Anayootu'', a ceremony of feeding elephants was held in the compound of the Sree Vadakkumnadan Temple here today.

The ceremony was organised in connection with the beginning of the 'Ramayana Masam', the first of the Malayalam month of ''Karkidakam.'' ''Ashtadravya Maha Ganapathi'' Homam was also performed in the temple for the welfare and prosperity of the people, As many as 41 elephants, including calf participated in the ceremony, which began by feeding ''prasadam'' of the Ganapathi Homa to an elephant calf ''Kuttumukku Kannan'' by the chief priest of the temple Kottampully Narayanan Namboothiri.
