Agumbe records 23 cms rainfall

Bangalore, July 17(UNI) Following is a Summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Monsoon was active over South Interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Very Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Agumbe 23; Bhagamandala 19; Madikeri 17; Puttur 16; Bantwal 15; Dharmasthala, Kollur, Koppa 14 each; Sringeri, Kammardi 13 each.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm) : Mani, Belthangadi 12 each; Linganamakki 11; Sulya, Talaguppa, Hosanagar 10 each; Mangalore AP, Siddapura (Udupi dt), Somwarpet, Jayapura 9 each; Mangalore, Panambur, Madapura, Thirthahalli 8 each; Mudibidre, Siddapura (Uttara Kannada dt), Kottigehara 7 each.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Munirabad, Ponampet, Tyagarthi, N.R.Pura 6 each; Udupi, Sagar, Balehonnur, Hospet 5 each; Mulki, Karkala, Ankola, Sirsi, Humchadakatte, Sakleshpura, Gundlupet, Bharamasagara 4 each; Kota, Kundapur, Joida, Gadag, Koppal, Chincholi, Mudigere, Periyapatna, Bandipura 3 each.

Forecast valid until Thursday morning:Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin:Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Kodagu, Shimoga districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri districts and at a few places over remaining districts of the State.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Fisheries warning: Strong onshore winds mainly from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching forty five to fifty five kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during next 24 hours.

Local forecast: Generally cloudy with a spell of rain/showers.

Surface winds will be strong and gusty at times.
