Strong aftershock hits northwestern Japan
Tokyo, July 16: A strong aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 hit the Niigata area of northwestern Japan, NHK public television said today.
There was no danger of a tsunami following the quake, the strongest of several aftershocks following a 6.8 magnitude quake earlier in the day.
