K'taka: Six miners killed in blast
Chamarajanagara (Karnataka), July 16: Six miners were killed in an explosion that rocked a storeroom in Kuthalavadi Village, 20 km from here, in the early of today.
Police said the blast occurred when explosives stored in the room went off, killing five miners sleeping in the room.
The sixth person succumbed to burns in a local hospital.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately available and the district authorities have rushed to the spot. Police said the bodies were charred beyond recognition.
In the meanwhile, Chamarajanagara Tahsildhar Puttaraju, who was on his way to the blast site, was hurt when the jeep in which he was travelling to the site overturned. He was admitted to the Chamarajanagar Government Hospital for treatment.
