Silver makes small gains, gold eases modestly
Mumbai, July 16 (UNI) Silver posted a small gain of Rs 5 per kilo even as Gold eased by Rs 10 per gm today on lack of fresh demand during the closing session, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.
Silver fineness .999 opened higher at Rs 17,950 per kg on scattered buying support. Later, it further gained slightly and closed higher at Rs 17,935 per kg with a small gain of Rs five from its last close of Rs 17,930.
In London, Silver remained firm at 13.05/13.07 per troy ounce, compared to its last close of 13.03/13.06 per troy ounce.
However, standard gold (99.5) and pure gold (99.9) also opened flat at Rs 8,765 and at Rs 8,815 per ten gm on lack of fresh demand.
Later, the yellow metal eased slightly and closed at Rs 8,760 and Rs 8,805 per ten gm. with a modest loss of Rs five and Rs ten respectively from their last close.
In the London market, gold was quoted higher at 666/668 per troy ounce against 662/664 per troy ounce, which did not impact on domestic prices, traders pointed out.
