One killed in a road accident

Phagwara, July 16 (UNI) One person was killed and other got seriously injured when the scooter in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding truck on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road near Bhularai village this evening.

According to the police sources, the deceased identified as Inderjit Singh, a resident of Chuckprema village, was killed on the spot, while his pillion rider, Paramjit Singh sustained injuries. The injured was rushed to the local civil hospital.

The police said the driver of the truck, which also overturned after hitting the scooter, managed to escape from the accident spot.

Police has registered a case against the absconding truck driver and sent the body to the hospital for the postmortem.
