TN: NLC contract staff begin indefinite strike

Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu), July 16: The contract staff of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) began an indefinite strike today in support of their demands.

Sources said only 518 of the 5,300 workers reported for the morning shift today. They also demanded regularisation of services, increase in wages and payment of 8.33 per cent bonus.

NLC, one of the largest lignite-based power producers in the country, has 12,000 contract workers on its rolls.
