Kanchi seer case adjourned to Aug 17

Puducherry, July 16: Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge D Krishnaraja today posted the hearing in the Sankararaman Murder Case in which Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi were the prime accused to August 17.

Twelve of the 24 accused including Jayendar and Vijayndra failed to turn up before the court when the case came up before it.

None of the defence counsels showed up as the lawyers here were boycotting court proceedings today to press their demands.

The case could not be conducted here as a special leave petetion challenging the appearance of the Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutor in the case here was still pending before the Supreme Court.
