IT dept scraps Saral 2D, 2F forms for 2007-08 year

Bangalore, July 16 (UNI) In order to help the salaried people and individuals to file their tax returns in the new format, a Bangalore-based Relyon Softech Limited, a taxation software company, has released free Income Tax Software for ITR 1, ITR 2 and ITR 3.

According to a company release here, the Income Tax (IT) department has scrapped Saral 2D and 2F, the most popular income tax returns filing forms for Individual and Hindu undivided family assessee's, for the assessment year of 2007-08.

IT returns for Individuals and HUF for the year ended March 31, 2007, which would have to be filed before July 31 has to be filed in the new forms. IT returns can be electronically submitted as well, the release said.

Returns can be printed and submitted to the department. It can also be submitted online through the Internet. Both the options were given free of cost. The details on how to choose the form and how to file the return is available in the software, and also on the website www.saraltaxoffice.com.

For Individuals and HUF, there are four forms to choose from depending the type of income of the Individual. In case the Assessee had only Salary and Interest, it is Form ITR 1. In case the Assessee had House Property Income and Capital Gains also, it is ITR 2. If the Assessee was only a partner in any Firm then, it is ITR 3. In case the assessee had business as a proprietor, then the assessee has to use ITR 4, the release added.
