IIPM launches mngt courses for NE planters
Agartala, Jul 16: In a bid to enhance productivity, market opportunity and ensure branding for Northeast's rubber, Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Plant Management(IIPM) had launched short term management courses for rubber-planters and entrepreneurs of the region.
As part of the mission, IIPM organised a five-day programme on ''Institution Building and Business-led Extension Service'' for the region here today, with about 25 planters and rural entrepreneurs of the state in the Rubber Board Complex.
Speaking on the occasion, IIPM Director Dr V G Dhanakumar said they had already set up a centre at Jorhat in Assam last month for improving India's plantation base and excellence of the agricultural estate and associated agri-business.
''Visualising the IIPM's tradition of excellence in academics, reach-out model and location specific research, the Jorhat centre would serve as the gateway to Northeast,'' Dr Dhanakumar said adding that the institute aimed at offering a full array of customised activities that would address the strategic needs of the plantation and agri-business sector.
''The IIPM has been working on four primary domains - Executive Development Programme, Small Growers Enterprise Management, Family Business Management and PG Certificate Programme on Plantation and Agri-Business Management - besides sharing knowledge base with other institutions,'' he added.
''Through its reach-out approach, the institute meets the human resource development requirements of the plantation and its associated sectors both in Northeast and South India,'' Dr Dhanakumar said.
