HC appoints Adv Commissioner to inspect damage

Kochi, July 16 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today appointed an Advocate-Commissioner to inspect the present condition of the building owned by 'Dhanyasree Yatri Niwas' resort at Munnar.

Justice S Siri Jagan passed the order while hearing a petition filed by the resort's owners seeking a direction to appoint an Advocate-Commissioner to assess the damage caused to the building.

The petitioners alleged that the government's Special Task Force for eviction of encroachments caused damage to the building's windows and removed its name board on July 12.

The Court had passed an interim order on July six staying the demolition of the building and it was extended till July 12.

The petitioners alleged that when the matter had been heard, the respondent, the State, started to demolish the building.

The court observed that ''if the allegation raised by the petitioners are true, it is a very serious allegation'' and appointed an Advocate-Commissioner directing to file a report within a week.
