Conditional bail for boy surgeon's parents
Tiruchirapalli, July 16 (UNI) A lower court today granted conditional bail to the controversial doctor couple, who had allowed their teenaged son to perform a risky Caesarean section on a woman at Manapparai recently.
When the case came up for hearing, Principal Sessions Judge Thangakani granted conditional bail to Dr K Murugesan, a surgeon, and his wife Dr M Gandhimathy, a gynaecologist, on the condition that the couple present themselves daily and sign at the Manapparai Police Station at 1000 hrs and also be present before the police whenever required for interrogation.
Public Prosecutor Edwin J Kumar argued that the doctor couple should not be granted bail at this juncture as the case was still in the initial stage and if they were let out, they might try to tamper with the evidence.
However, accepting the argument of Mr S Martin, the counsel of the couple that they were willing to cooperate with the police for interrogation, the judge granted them conditional bail.
The incarcerated doctors were expected to be released from the Central Jail here tomorrow.
The doctor couple had allowed their 15-year-old son, M Dhileepan Raj to perform Caesarean section on a woman at Mathi Surgical and Maternity Hospital at Manapparai recently, sending shock waves among the medical fraternity and the public alike.
