BJP wants judicial probe into 'ORR scam'

Hyderabad, July 16 (UNI) BJP State President Bandaru Dattatreya today asked the state government to order a judicial probe by a sitting judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court to inquire into the alleged irregularities in awarding compensation to farmers whose lands were acquired for the Rs 3,500-crore Outer Ring Road (ORR) project.

Addressing the press here, Mr Dattatreya said the compensation distributed to the farmers was very low as compared to realtors who received huge sums of money in the first and second phase of the ORR project.

The government had done injustice to the farmers by not providing rehabilitation after acquiring the lands.

Alleging that the CBI inquiry, ordered into the ORR scam recently, had failed to conduct the investigation in the right direction, he said the BJP delegation, led by him, would sumbit a memorandum to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in this regard.
