BJP leader demands mid-term poll in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, July16 (UNI) Former Jharkhand Finance Minister Raghubar Das today reiterated the party's demand to dismiss the ''corrupt'' Madhu Koda government in the state and sought a fresh mandate.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Das, a BJP MLA, said, '' There is no governance in Jharkhand and both Congress and RJD are responsible for the situation.

On one hand they are supporting the government but on the other most of the MLAs of both parties are demanding Mr Koda's ouster. '' Mr Das said the party would launch a state wide agitaion on August 9 against the UPA government in the state.

Launching tirade against the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of East Singhbhum district for allegedly working in favour of a particular political party and a corporate house, Mr Das said both officers were not discharging their duties and running a ''parallel system'' in the district.

Mr Das said if both officers were not sacked within a month, the BJP would launch agitation against them.

About the reopening of sick Indian Cable Company (INCAB) here, Mr Das said although Tata Steel had announced to take over the company, it was yet to come out with a comprehensive package for its revival so far.

'' If Tata Steel is not interested to revive the sick unit, it should give other company a chance for the revival, '' Mr Das said.

He also alleged that instead of charging residential bills for electricity, Tata Steel was billing on commercial rate from the employees of INCAB and termed the act as inhuman.

Hundreds of employees of the company were starving but Tata Steel did not hesitate to slap extra burden on them, Mr Das also alleged.

Mr Das said he had spent Rs three crore for the development of his Assembly in this financial year and provided infrastructural facilities, particularly to the slum areas.
