3 more surrender before court in Murugan murder case
Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, July 16 (UNI) Three more persons accused in the sensational murder of Sivaganga Municipal Chairman P Murugan surrendered before Judicial Magistrate Court here today.
The surrendered were Kannan (33), brother of incarcerated DMK Councillor Manthakalai alias Kumaran, the prime accused in the case, Murugupandi (33) and Samayanallur Kannan (35).
Later, the Magistrate remanded them to judicial custody till July 23 and ordered to produce them before the Judicial Magistrate Court at Sivaganga on the same day.
Sivaganga Municipal Chairman P Murugan (DMK) was killed, when a powerful remote-controlled bomb planted in his car exploded near the Municipal Office at Sivaganga in Madurai last month.
Following the blast, the Madurai police registered a case against two DMK Councillors K S M Manimuthu, who contested against the deceased Murugan as an official party candidate for the Municipal Chairman Post and Mandhakalai alias Kumaran, who runs a cable television network in the town.
