Two trainee doctors freed after interrogation on Glasgow attacks

London, July 15 (UNI) Two trainee doctors who were arrested on July 2, by Strathclyde Police at the doctors' residence of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Scotland, in connection with the failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow, were released without charge today.

They too had been brought to the high-security Paddington police station and were being interrogated. Their police custodial period expired today but instead of applying for extension of time, the officers released them.

This brings the number of arrested to eight, seven in London while one in Brisbane. Three were let-off without any charge, including Dr Mohammad Asha's wife Marwah.

Three doctors have been charged -- Dr Bilal Abdulla, Dr Mohammad Haneef and Dr Sabeel Ahmed while Dr Kafeel Ahmed is in critical condition suffering from 90 per cent burns in Royal Glasgow Infirmary, under armed guard.

Police got an extension of seven days, till next Saturday, to hold and question Dr Asha.

Dr Sabeel Ahmad, charged under Section 38(B) of the Terrorism Act 2000 allegedly had information which he "knew or believed may be of material assistance in preventing the commission by another of an act of terrorism". Dr Ahmad will appear in a London court tomorrow.
