Tributes paid to Kamaraj on his birth anniversary
Chennai, July 15 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj on his 105th birth anniversary today.
Tamil Nadu Ministers garlanded the statue of the late leader in front of Gymkhana Club.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee organised various functions to mark the day. Various Congress leaders garlanded the statue of Mr Kamaraj at his residence in Thirumalai Pillai road.
The TNCC also organised a public meeting in the city in which Union Ministers E V K S Elangovan and P Chidambaram, TNCC President M Krishnaswamy and party legislators and functionaries participated.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi launched the three eggs per week under the Nutritious noon meal scheme, a popular scheme launched by the late Kamaraj.
Hitherto two eggs were being given to school children per week under the noon meal scheme in the State.
Since the Government had announced that the day would be observed as ''Education Development Day'', several schools were opened today despite being a Sunday.
