Tourists refuse to travel in rickety HRTC sleeper bus

Manali, Jul 15 (UNI) Tourists refused to travel in a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) owned sleeper bus whose air conditioner was not working besides being rickety, minutes after it started from here to New Delhi, official sources and tourists said.

The tourists asked the bus driver to stop the bus, after being told that the air conditioner was not working that its door had problem in opening and closing a few minutes after it started from the tourist resort of Manali to New Delhi yesterday.

They agreed to resume their onward journey on the intervention of the senior tourism officials who agreed to reduce the fare of sleeper ticket to Rs 710 from Rs 1,110 and seat ticket to Rs 200 from Rs 400.

The sources said that the transport officials said the problem in the bus had not been rectified due to the absence of a trained mechanic here, while promising to ensure that such an instance will not repeated in the future.
