SP MLA, 3 ex-MLAs charged with Dalit harassment

Etah, July 15 (UNI) A Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA, three former MLAs and an ADM have been charged with Dalit harassment here.

SSP R K Diwedi today said the cases were registered on the recent instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to lodge all pending criminal cases of the last three years.

On Friday, A K Singh, SP MLA from Nidhauli Kalan seat, was booked for 'assaulting' and 'pressurising' voters to vote in favour of his party during the 2004 Lok Sabha poll.

Zila Panchayat president Jugendra Singh Yadav, his brother and former MLA Rameshwa Singh were among six persons charged with encroaching on a piece of land in Chilasni village under Kotwali police station area.

Later, former MLA from Aliganj Rameshwar Singh Yadav, the then ADM Bhairpal Singh, former DSP Alok Verma and Kotwal-in-charge Man Singh Yadav were booked for encroaching on Virendra's land on December 13, 2006.

Mr Diwedi added former MLA from Etah Sadar Shishupal Singh and kin were charged with exchanging blows with BSP leader Om Prakash during the recently concluded State Assembly election.
