Morethan 1.35 lakh devotees pays obeisance to Icelingam at holy cave

Jammu, July 15 (UNI) A fresh batch of 1,929 pilgrims left for Jammu for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The pilgrims comprising 1,352 men, 371 women, 55 children and 151 sadhus, the convoy of 65 vehicles including 36 buses left from the base camp at MAM stadium around 6.00 am, officials said.

Most of the pilgrims will reach the base camp at Nunwan in Pehalgam by evening for their onward journey to the shrine tomorrow.

However, around 2,800 pilgrims today started trekking to the shrine after halting at Nunwan base camp in Phalgam of Anantnag district, the officials said adding that similarly 1893 devotees started trekking from Baltal base camp.

More than 1.32 lakh pilgrims have so far paid their obeisance to Icelingam at the holy cave of Amarnath since July 2, official sources said.
