More funds to tackle Chikungunya demanded
Thiruvananthapuram, July 15 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today urged Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss to release more Central assistance to the state to face the outbreak of viral fever.
In a letter to the Minister, Mr Chandy urged him to depute more medical experts to tackle the Chikungunya menace, a statement here said.
Mr Chandy also suggested to conduct a detailed study about the viral fever under the auspices of World Health Organisation.
Mr Chandy alleged that the state government failed miserably to take preventive measures against the dreaded disease, which claimed more than 170 lives and affected scores of people in the state.
