Shimla, July 15 (UNI) The Industries department of Himachal Pradesh has decided to introduce a special mechanism of project monitoring to expedite investment proposals, which already stand cleared by the state's single window authority.

The decision to create a cell within the department to periodically monitor industrial progress has been taken to ensure that all committed investors set up their projects, Industries Director Anil Khachi said.

Himachal has attracted investment of over Rs 25,000 crore during the last four years with several industrialists complaining of failing to set up their projects due to certain hurdles.

''The investors are facing problems in getting clearances and there are other procedural hurdles as well. All these will be removed soon, Mr Khachi said.

He said the availability of land was the biggest problem in industrial township and the government has already identified some new areas at Baddi to facilitate the industrialists.

The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority, set up last year, has taken measures to create infrastructure. The feedback from the investors, was, however, still not very encouraging, he said.

We will examine all the industrial proposals that have been delayed. We will also discuss the problems being faced by industrialists, if any, in getting the clearances and prepare a broad action plan to put these projects on the fast track. The government wants that all the investments cleared should materialise and more areas get focus, the director added.
