Haryana increases expenditure of education

Rohtak, July 15 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has assured that MD University would be made the best university in the country and the budget for education had been doubled to impart qualitative education to the students of the state.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a function here today after laying the foundation stone of Faculty of Humanities in the premises of Mahrishi Dayanand University (MDU) here. This faculty will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.89 lakh.

The Chief Minister also accorded its approval for opening of a School of Business at Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar. He said that his government was giving special thrust to promote qualitative education in the state so that students could face the challenges in the age of globalization.

He said that the government had earmarked a sum of Rs 115 crore in the plan budget of higher education as against Rs 64.70 crore during the last year. He said that a sum of Rs 26 crore had been incurred on developmental works in government colleges during last two years.

A provision of Rs 14.70 crore had been made during the current financial year to execute various developmental works.

He said that government had also accorded its approval for setting up of Mahrishi Dayanand University Regional Centre at Mirpur in district Rewari.

Mr Hooda said that during last 28 months a number of steps had been taken to provide qualitative education to the students in the state. The budget for technical education had been increased manifold besides government colleges, schools and technical institutes were being connected with EDUSAT network which is the largest network of Asia.
