Chandigarh, July 15 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to organise intensive courses for the police officers to fully acquaint them about the provisions of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act, 1989 .

Giving this information here today, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Home, K S Bhoria said they would be trained to draft FIRs without any technical loopholes under the Act so that the person violating it could not escape conviction.

Mr Bhoria is the Nodal Officer of the State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee constituted last year for the effective implementation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act 1989 in the state. These courses would be organised at the Haryana Police Academy.

He said that the courses would be aimed at sensitising the police officers to ensure equality to all and to register FIR against violation of the Act in a way so that conviction of the person violating it could be ensured. This would prove a deterrent for others and would lead to complete eradication of atrocities on persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, he added.
