Green Rohtak campaign to commence on July 23

Rohtak, July 15 (UNI) Over 1.50 lakh saplings of different species would be planted under ' Green Rohtak' campaign which would be launched from July 23 in Rohtak district of Haryana to beautify and make the district pollution free.

The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting which was held under the chairmanship of MP Deepender Singh Hooda here today.

Mr Hooda said that under the three-day campaign which would be launched by the District Administration in collaboration with Sarv Hitkari Seva Sansthan, saplings would be planted in rural and urban areas of the district.

He directed Additional Deputy Commissioner Vijay Singh Dhahiya to arrange for tree-guards for the protection and growth of these plants. He also directed the officers of Forest Department to make available sufficient number of plants during the campaign.

He urged the people and NGOs to come forward and plant the saplings during the campaign. A three Member- Coordination Committee had been constituted for the campaign.

The committee would also ensure the planting of sufficient number of saplings in the premises of Mahrishi Dayanand University and PGIMS here.

Mr Hooda directed the District Development and Panchayat Officer Virender Singh Malik to include Gram Panchayats in the campaign. He said that the places where the saplings would be planted should be identified in advance so that maximum number of saplings could be planted during the three-day campaign.

School children should also be involved in the campaign to ensure that saplings were planted in all the schools, he added.
