Gowda visits Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

Srirangam, July 15 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) President H D Deve Gowda offered prayers at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple here late this evening.

Mr Gowda was accompanied by his wife, son H D Revanna, the Karnataka Public Works Department Minister, and grand daughter. They were accorded a 'Kumbha' reception at the temple premises.

However, he did not answer reporters queries on Presidential elections and the emergence of the UNPA, the Third Front. ''It is quite a personal and spiritual visit'', he said.

Mr Gowda and family are scheduled to visit the temple tomorrow morning before leaving for Tiruchendur.

Security measures were tightened in view of his visit.
