Govt education policy not against minority: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, July 15 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today made it clear that the government's education policy was not against the interests of minorities in the state.
Talking to mediapersons after inaugurating the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Sivagiri Pilgrimage here, he said the allegations against the government that it was acting against the interest of minorities would not be easily cashed in as in the past.
He said it was the government policy to make higher education available to poor students.
However, the self-financing professional college managements' stand was that they had the right to collect exorbitant fees and donations from the students.
Mr Achuthanandan said the managements agitation against the government would not succeed as the people would accept the government's education policy, which was aimed at protecting the interest of the public.
Those indulging in negative propaganda against the government in this regard should withdraw their stand, he added.
