Five nabbed while smuggling cows to Bihar
Sangrur, July 15 (UNI) The Punjab Police have arrested five persons, including two from Bihar, while they were smuggling cows and calves for slaughter, police today said.
According to police, residents of Sunam town intercepted the truck and rescued 16 cows and 12 calves. The animals were being taken to Bihar for being slaughtered.
The five persons travelling in the truck were beaten up by the residents and then handed over to the police. They have been identified as Satbir, Sukhdev and Deputy, all from Rajpura in Punjab and Ramji and Chandereshwar from Bihar.
They have been booked under various clauses of the IPC and Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act.
