CPI(M) condemns militant attacks in Tripura
Agartala, July 15: The CPI (M) today condemned the extremist attacks on the field officials involved in election work in North Tripura where a veteran tribal community leader and vice-chairman of Village Council was killed and two officials sustained serious injuries.
In a statement, CPI (M)'s Tripura state secretariat said that the opposition backed insurgents were creating panic to disrupt the pre-poll official exercises.
The party demanded stringent action against the anti-development activists.
Suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants had kidnapped CPI (M) leader Mainnya Kumar Tripura along with two election officials- Raikumar Tripura and Patrajoy Tripura- on Friday from Govindabari area. They were on way to check up the voters identity cards. While the militants killed Mainnya Kumar, whose body was found yesterday, the poll officials escaped narrowly and were were later shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College.
