20 persons killed in different accidents in Karnataka

Bangalore, July 15 (UNI) Twenty people were killed and 27 others injured in three different road accidents in Karnataka today.

Police said in the first accident, 14 people, including five women and five children were killed, and two others were injured, when a Sumo van collided head on with a private bus near Chitradurga city in the wee hours today.

The victims were on a pilgrimage trip to Ukkaga Gatri in Chitradurga district. They belonged to Kumarswamy layout in the city.

In the second accident, four persons were killed and ten others were injured when a truck rammed into a tree near Teggihal village in Haveri district early today morning. Two were killed on the spot and two others died on way to a hospital. The injured had been hospitalised.

In the third mishap, two persons were killed and 15 others injured when a Sumo van collided with a truck on National highway near Bankapur also in Haveri district today. The killed were farmers, travelling in the van, were from Chitradurga district.
