2 independents extend support to Pratibha Patil

Ahmedabad, July 15 (UNI) Two Gujarat independent MLAs have extended support to the UPA-Left backed Presidential candidate Pratibha Patil who arrived in the city to seek support for her candidature.

Congress sources said independent MLAs Bheembhai Patel (Deodar in Banaskantha) and Popat Jhinjharia (Chotila in Surendranagar) welcomed her and attended today's meeting.

Ms Patil addressed a meeting of Congress legislators and MPs, along with party leaders, in the conference hall of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).

She arrived here this morning and visited the Sabarmati Ashram before attending the meeting.

The Congress has 48 MLAs, 12 Lok Sabha members and three Rajya Sabha members in Gujarat.
