Two Pak infiltrators killed in north Kashmir
Baramulla, July 14: Two Pakistani infiltrators were killed by the troops of 6 Grenadiers after they sneaked across the LOC from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir early today.
Official sources told sources that troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from PoK in Keran sector early this morning under the cover of darkness.
When challenged and asked to surrender at Balter near the LoC, the militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the ensuing fierce clash two infiltrators were killed.
They said the entire forest area of about 10 km was cordoned off and searches were launched to nab the militants.
This was the first infiltration attempt during this month in Keran sector.
About 60 militants were killed after they sneaked into this side from PoK during the past six months.
As many as 100 militants also surrendered with their families before the troops after their return from PoK during the past two years.
According to intelligence inputs, more than 1500 militants were waiting across the border to sneak into this side from PoK before the infiltration routes were closed due to snowfall in winter.
