Trinamool Cong MLA Javed Khan arrested

Kolkata, July 14 (UNI) Police today arrested Trinamool Congress MLA Javed Khan on the charge of obstructing government work.

Mr Khan was, however, released on bail by a court.

Mr Khan was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the authorities of National Medical College and Hospital under Beniapukur police station, where a mob led by the Trinamool leader, went on a rampage inside the operation theatre on July 9 after the death of a girl, police said.

Mr Khan had alleged that the 19-year-old girl, who was admitted to the hospital for operation, had been raped and murdered inside the operation theatre.

However, a probe ordered by the hospital authorities revealed that the girl died of cardiac arrest and there was no assault on her.
