Thirty-five bar girls arrested

Mumbai, July 14 (UNI) The Social Service Branch (SSB) of the Mumbai police have arrested 35 bar girls and a manager of a bar at Dadar on charges of obscenity.

Acting on a tip-off that in 'Baywatch' bar and restaurant at Dadar, the bar girls were indulging in obscene activities to lure customers, the SSB sleuths conducted a raid at the bar late last night and arrested 35 girls and the bar manager.

They were produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode this afternoon, who remanded them to police custody till Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the police have also conducted raids on two other bars at Tardeo and Byculla respectively last night who stand accused of conducting business after the stipulated time frame.

Tardeo police conducted a raid on Green Park bar and arrested 16 bar girls.

They were released after paying a fine of Rs 1,200 each.

In another raid on Priya Bar at Byculla, police arrested 11 bar girls and the manager. The girls and the manager were released after paying a fine of Rs 1,200 and Rs 5,000 respectively, police added.
