Several roads, bridges submerged under water

Belgaum, July 14 (UNI) Nine roads and bridges in Chikkodi and Raibag taluks were submerged under water following the release of water from Rajapur barrage located in the neighbouring state of Maharashtra.

Official sources here said Maharashtra had released 1.30 lakh cusecs of water from the barrage of Sangli division today, causing inundation of the roads and bridges in the district.

A total inflow in Almatti was at 2,30,000 cusecs and the same amount was discharged to maintain water level, the sources said.

The present level at Almatti was 516 mts.

According to reports, 20,844 hectare of land had been hit from the heavy rains amounting to a crop loss of Rs 88 crore.
