Met office forecasts heavy rainfall during next 48 hours
Kolkata, Jul 14 (UNI) The spectre of depression was staring South Bengal as Alipore Met office forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in West Bengal and adjoining areas over the next 48 hours.
Official sources said a depression, formed due to low pressure, remained stationary over the northwestern part of Bengal and was likely to cause very heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Orissa and heavy rainfall in North Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, Kolkata and adjoining areas experienced a sultry day today with no rainfall and the maximum and minimum temperatures well above the normal level.
The maximum temperature recorded was 35.5 degree Celsius, while the minimum was 28.6 degree Celsius, both three degrees above normal.
The humidity was high at 89 per cent.
