Haneef's wife disappointed; denies charges
Bangalore, July 14: Terming as 'totally baseless and unfair' the charges against Dr Mohammed Haneef, detained by the Australian police in connection with the failed Glasgow International Airport attack's wife Firdous today expressed disappointment and anger over the new turn of event.
The Australian Police had charged that Dr Haneef had extended support to a terrorist organisation by providing his SIM card with his cousins Sabeel and Kafeel Ahmed, detained as suspects in England in connection with the incident.
Talking to newsmen here soon after hearing the news about the charges framed against her husband Firdous said, ''Why did the Australian Police wait for 12 days to press these charges against him.'' According to her the Australian Police were aware from day one that he had left his SIM card with his cousins.
Firdous who had been early waiting for the news of her husband's release was extremely disappointed. She said that since the police could not find anything substantial against him, they have framed this charge on him.
''I was expecting them to release him,'' Firdous said, adding, ''but they have decided to frame these charges after such a long delay''.
