Duped youth commits suicide

Ludhiana, July 14 (UNI) A youth who was duped of Rs 1.70 lakhs by a travel agent allegedly committed suicide by consuming sulphas tablets at his home in Gohour village in the district today, police here stated.

The deceased identified as Manjit Singh had paid the amount to Daljit Singh, a travel agent who promised to send him to Italy.

However even after six months the travel agent neither sent him to Italy nor did he return his money.

According to the police, Manjit committed suicide after his attempts to get back the money did not yield results. A case under section 306 of the IPC has been registered against Daljit Singh, who is absconding.
