Jangan Award for MP tribal craftsmen

Bhopal, July 14: The Madhya Pradesh has instituted ''Jangan award'' for outstanding painters and sculptors among tribal craftsmen.

The Rs 25,000 award, instituted in the memory of prominent Gond tribal artiste Jangan Singh Shyam, will be distributed from next year, while an exhibition to promote the creative work of tribal craftsmen will also be organised, official sources said.

The award and exhibition for first two years will be given for painting and for sculpture in the third year, while only aboriginal tribals from Madhya Pradesh will be eligible to participate in it, according to Tribal Welfare department's publication wing Vanya Prakashan- the organisers.
