Alert security guard foils robbery bid

Vijayawada, July 14: An alert security guard foiled a robbery attempt on a bank after he opened fire at a gang early today injuring two of the members grievously.

Police sources told sources here that, as many as seven people entered the Krishan Vilas Bank from the backdoor and broke the tubelights.

Hearing the sound, the bank's security guard opened fire. Two of the seriously injuries were taken by their accomplices into a waiting car which later sped away.

Police in Guntur and Eluru have been asked to remain vigilant and Searches are underway in hospitals to check if the criminnals were receiving any treatment.

This is the second such incident in a week in the state after two armed persons looted nearly Rs ten lakh in cash from the Karur Vysya Bank's Tirupati Branch on July seven.
