16 killed, 60 injured in bus plunge in southeastern Bangladesh

Dhaka, July 14 (UNI) Sixteen people were killed and 60 others injured when a bus skidded off a bridge into a roadside ditch in southeastern Chittagong district of Bangladesh today.

The bus smashed in through the railings of Bhangatogor bridge in the hilly area and tumbled 150 feet down, police said.

Three passengers died on the spot, said Officer-in-Charge of Fatikchhari police station Mainul Afsar. Thirteen others, who were seriously injured, died in Chittagong and Feni Hospitals.

Police, Ansar and BDR personnel and firefighters joined a combined operation to salvage the bus.
