Strolling elephants surprise small Canadian town
TORONTO, July 13 (Reuters) Two curious Asian elephants went for an early morning stroll in a small town north of Toronto, after the electronic fence surrounding their circus pen was accidentally shut off.
The animals, part of Garden Bros circus, were quickly rounded up by police in Newmarket, Ontario, who received a phone call at 3 am (local time) from a surprised local resident.
Police said no one was hurt, no property was damaged and that the two well-behaved animals spent their free time snacking on plants and trees as they wandered the quiet downtown streets.
