Reliance's Dadri proj to be commissioned by 2011

Lucknow, July 13: The Uttar Pradesh government today said the mega Dadri power project of the Reliance Energy and Anpara C of the Lanco group, both in the private sector, are expected to be commissioned by the year 2011.

Reliance's Dadri gas-based power project will generate 3,750 megawatt (MW) in the intial stage and can enhance up to 8,000 MW while Anpara C thermal power project will generate 1,000 MW.

In a written reply to the state assembly, Energy Minister Ramveer Upadhaya said the government has signed state support agreement with the Reliance Energy Generation Ltd for the Dadri project on June 16, 2004. Under the agreement the company will make its effort to start generation within seven years of the signing of the agreement.

''Under the agreement 40 per cent of the power generated in the Dadri plant will be given to UP,'' he said adding that the Centre had already given nod on environmental clearance of the Reliance's unit.

The minsiter, giving details of the Anpara C project, which had been given to the Hyderabad-based Lanco Kodapalli Power Company, said that land lease agreement has been signed on June 22, 2007 and the work for the project will start in November next.

The generation for the first unit of 500 MW will start from March 2011 and the second unit of the same capacity from July 2011.

Mr Upadhaya also said the state government will not invest any money in the Anpara C project.
