Pratibha Patil arrives in Kolkata to canvass

Kolkata, July 13: UPA Presidential candidate Ms Pratibha Patil arrived here today from Delhi by a special flight to campaign for the post.

She was received at the NSCBI airport by Congress leaders Margaret Alva who had earlier come from Bangalore and Mr Santosh Mohan Dev, Mr P R Chauhan and Ms Jayanti Natarajan.

State Congress working president Pradip Bhattacharya was also present.

However, the Left was conspicuous by its absence.

Ms Patil is the UPA candidate for the Presidential post backed by the Left parties.

She will meet the Congress and the Left MLAs in the Assembly later today.
