PM's scheduled visit to Bihar cancelled

Patna, July 13 (UNI) The visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Bihar, scheduled on July 17, had been cancelled.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told newspersons here today that his office received a message from the Prime Minister's Office(PMO) about the postponement of the visit.

The reason for the cancellation of the programme had not been specifically mentioned in the message, he informed.

He said in view of the PM's visit, the government had prepared power point presentations and drafted a memorandum for giving special state category to Bihar.

He further said accompanied by the Finance Minister, the PM was scheduled to visit the state for reviewing the agricultural scenario, which was being viewed as an important event as more financial allocation for the development of the state would have been possible.

When asked, Mr Kumar said he might hand over the proposals and memorandum to the PM during his visit to New Delhi.

Earlier, Mr Singh was scheduled to visit Bihar on a day-long tour on July 17.
