Opposition stages walkout from Lower House

Patna, July 13 (UNI) Demanding immediate action over the recomendations of Amir Das Commission, the entire Opposition staged a noisy walkout from the State Assembly today.

Following announcement of rejection of the related adjournment motion by the chair soon after the zero hour, the members of RJD including Opposition leader Ms Rabri Devi, Chief whip of the party Mr Ramchandra Purvey, Mr Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Mr Shakeel Ahmad Khan and others drew the attention of the chair towards the directives of the Patna High Court and demanded immediate action from the government on the commission's report.

Joining the move of the RJD, CPI (ML) members Arun Singh and others said that the High Court gave a clearcut direction to the state government for taking action against the guilty on the basis of the commissions recomendations. Demanding a time frame for the action against the culprits the CPI(ML) members trooped to the well and blamed the government for protecting the banned Ranveer Sena.

Thumping the government reporters desk they shouted anti-government slogans.

Meanwhile, RJD member Shakeel Ahmad Khan alleged that the state government was deliberately ignoring the actions even after the directions of the court.

The entire opposition created uproar over the issue and boycotted the House. However, Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry simultaneously announced its adjournment till lunch.

Later, outside the House Ms Devi told mediapersons that the government was trying to shield the culprits specially Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who had been held guilty by the commission constituted to probe the links of political leaders with the Ranveer Sena after the Lakshmanpur Bathe massacre in which 62 dalits were killed in December 1997.

The commission had cross examined over 56 leaders of different political parties including Mr Modi, former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Dr C P Thakur and others.

Meanwhile, after hearing the PILs Patna High court recently directed the state government to take action as per the recomendations of the commission.
